Did you raise money for the walk and then couldn't make it? Did a friend give you a check after the walk that she meant to give to you before the walk? Do you want to make an extra contribution to help this walk go above and beyond the goal? There is still time to turn in any post-walk money to be added to you 2011 totals. Those monies can be turned in to First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport.
Also, did you take pictures or videos of this year's walk? We would love to have copies that we could use to promote next year's walk.
Finally, are you interested in serving on the planning team for next year's walk? We would love to have you come on board and help us end hunger one step at a time!

Walk Day is Here!
Today is Walk Day! Just as a reminder, registration starts at 2:30pm in front of Noel United Methodist Church and the walk begins at 3pm. The police will be diverting traffic away from the route so don't be late!
Also, we would like to thank all of the sponsors who made today possible. If you do business with one of them, please thank them for their contribution to ending hunger.

2011 Route
The 2011 CROP Walk Route has been simplified from last year's route. It still starts and ends at the lawn in front of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church and goes past several sites served by the Food Bank (Noel Food Pantry & Highland Center), but has fewer twists and turns. The simpler route means that the police will be able to close off the streets and let people walk or run their own pace! You will also notice that there is no 1 mile short-cut this year. Instead, the whole route is about 1 mile long so that groups can stay together. Those wanting to go the full 5K are invited to go around the route three times.

The Dollar Menu
How much can you buy with $1? I took a stroll through Brookshire's this morning to see what I could get with just one dollar and then compared it to what the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank can buy with one dollar, take a look for yourself:
If could give one potato or 84 pounds of potatoes for the same price which would you choose? I invite you to sponsor a walker in this year's CROP Walk so that we can use our collective power to maximize the value of our contributions to minimize hunger here in Northwest Louisiana and around the world.
| Me | Food Bank |
| 1 lb of potatoes (1 potato) | 84 lbs of potatoes |
| 1 lb of bananas (2 bananas) | 71 lbs of baby food |
| 2 boxes of macaroni & cheese | 18 lbs of cheese |
| 1 10¾ oz can of chicken noodle soup | 37 lbs of pot pies |

CROP Hunger RUN?

The Shreveport-Bossier CROP Hunger Walk is trying something different this year. Recognizing that some people like to go their own speed and that there is a whole community of competitive runners in the area, we have asked that the city close off the streets instead of leading us with the rolling barricade as they have done in years past. That means that you can walk or run as you wish. For those who run competitively, you can even register through Sportspectrum for only $20 and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female runners will receive a prize. So walk or run this year and help us put an end to hunger right here in the Arklatex!
