The Dollar Menu

How much can you buy with $1? I took a stroll through Brookshire's this morning to see what I could get with just one dollar and then compared it to what the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank can buy with one dollar, take a look for yourself:

Me

Food Bank

1 lb of potatoes (1 potato)

84 lbs of potatoes

1 lb of bananas (2 bananas)

71 lbs of baby food

2 boxes of macaroni & cheese

18 lbs of cheese

1 10¾ oz can of chicken noodle soup

37 lbs of pot pies

If could give one potato or 84 pounds of potatoes for the same price which would you choose? I invite you to sponsor a walker in this year's CROP Walk so that we can use our collective power to maximize the value of our contributions to minimize hunger here in Northwest Louisiana and around the world.

CROP Hunger RUN?

The Shreveport-Bossier CROP Hunger Walk is trying something different this year. Recognizing that some people like to go their own speed and that there is a whole community of competitive runners in the area, we have asked that the city close off the streets instead of leading us with the rolling barricade as they have done in years past. That means that you can walk or run as you wish. For those who run competitively, you can even register through Sportspectrum for only $20 and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female runners will receive a prize. So walk or run this year and help us put an end to hunger right here in the Arklatex!
